Recreational Activities

Everyone into our pool...

Like everything else at the Castle on the Hudson, our pool is first-class. At a spectacular 30x60 feet, it allows you to swim to your heart's content while overlooking the majestic and historic Hudson River. The pool complex includes a giant outdoor Jacuzzi and elegantly appointed changing rooms. An adjoining bar is designed like a secluded cave and built from stone quarried on site. Poolside lunches are served nearby. Landscaping includes a private garden sitting area that boasts a bocce court and a placid waterfall.
Pool closed Monday - Thursday after Labor Day
Pool closed for season on Columbus Day (Weather permitting)

There are numerous activities in close proximity.
Horseback riding is available at the nearby Rockefeller family preserve. For those whose passion is tennis, the Castle has its own outdoor court exclusively for guests.
Local hiking and mountain biking trails are also convenient to the Castle.

For shoppers, there are numerous places to go including "The Westchester," an elegant mall which houses Neiman-Marcus, Nordstrom's, Tiffany & Co. and many more. Opportunities for antiquing around and nearby restaurants serve a variety of cuisines.
If you'd like to take a scenic drive, one you may want to consider is the route that finishes at The United States Military Academy at West Point. The surrounding Hudson Valley is replete with things to see and do. The village of Tarrytown boasts numerous historic sites and antique shops. Tarrytown is the home of Washington Irving, author of "Rip Van Winkle and The Legend of Sleepy Hollow." Nearby Kykuit has been home to four generations of Rockefellers in Pocantico Hills. Other properties of Historic Hudson Valley (Link to Historic Hudson Valley here) include 18th Century Philipsburg Manor and the Union Church of Pocantico Hills with stained-glass windows by Marc Chagall and Henri Matisse. Lyndhurst, a National Trust Historic Site, is in Tarrytown.
